The Ropes Course

In grade school gym class, I was that kid. The sad little buck-toothed, four eyed, scrawny kid who no one wanted on their team because I was awful at performing any sort of athletic activity with the least bit of coherency. I was that kid who got picked very last, even after the fat, smelly kid. I remember very clearly the day that I had a chance to prove myself worthy to my peers... it was our 5th grade end of the year obstacle course relay-race, and I was (for some absurd reason) the very last person. I was the game winning participant. They chose me to finish the last portion of the relay-race by climbing a rope to the ceiling. I'll keep the story short, as I prefer not to elicit any post-traumatic memories... but lets just say that my team lost, and I was found dangling, struggling and wiggling at the bottom of the rope after everyone had already finished.

This shirt reminds me of my athletic failures, in particular... anything that has to do with a ropes course. Ah well, life goes on. Good thing I don't need to climb any ropes nowadays, right?

Sweater: Banana Republic
Shorts: J.Crew
Sandals: ShopRuche
Purse: F21

Lets just hope Grace grows up with better athletics skills than I had :)

  1. I had no upper body strength, so ropes and jungle gyms were my enemy. And you're right, at least we don't have to climb any ropes now, unless you count the figurative ropes that we ascend in our day to day lives. Grace's picture is so cute!

  2. That watermelon photo is adorable! Love your colorful sandals. I was actually one of the only girls in grade school who WAS able to climb to the top of the rope in gym class... the skill is of absolutely no use to me now, so I wouldn't sweat it! :P

  10. Haha, I was terrible at sports back in grade school too! The only thing I was good at was shot-put because that doesn't require speed :) That's an adorable sweater though.

  11. At least the traumatic experience didn't exclude you from wearing this cute tee. Your outfit is simple and colorful, a perfect look for summer. Grace is cute. Aaron did a great job taking your photos. The farm is really pretty.

  13. Oh my, I know those non-athletic gym horrible memories well. I definitely was not born with a bit of athletic ability... I was better as a dancer. But that sweater is really cute! And I love that picture of adorable Grace!

  19. I liked how you shared a little story from your life to complement the outfit shot. Well, it gets very demoralizing to be bad at sports and get picked after the fat, smelly kid but hey, those are all in the past and who needs rope climbing skill in our modern world now? It's nice that you are doing well in other aspect of your life like having such a lovely family. Grace is so cute!

I'm smiling at your words. I love to look at travel photos and live vicariously through them. Hence, I would feel touched if somebody told me the same way about my photos too. Oh, you remember the sexy pasta? Lol... Yes yes, please save up and go to anywhere in Europe coz if you love the architecture and all, many countries/cities in Europe have got them. Thank you for your lovely words once more, Christy.

  24. So lovely...loving the mix of coral and mint :)

I purposefully took PE in the summer so that there weren't many people around to see my lack of athletic ability :P
