Last weekend we were able to take a small trip to San Francisco!
A group of us gave a symposium presentation at the Annual American Psychiatric Association, so it was nice to get a free conference trip :) We treated the trip as a mini-vacation, because boy I can't remember the last time we had a vacation!
The topic of the symposium was: Eating disorders through the Lifespan, exploring diagnostic and treatment challenges through various life stages. I gave my 2 cent blurb on eating disorders in the elderly, hopefully it was informative.... although I did see a lot of yawns and blank stares during the talk. Ah well.

Wow, California sure is beautiful. The best part of the trip was meeting up with some friends (Alex, Ron, Tanya, Jon, Le Lan) who took us around the city and to the golden gate bridge. This city is absolutely incredible, filled with so much culture, variety, and breathtaking views. I wouldn't mind moving here, that's for sure! There was also some sort of marathon going that weekend called the "Bay to Breakers". Thousands of people dressed up in interesting costumes... which was pretty amusing to watch....until I saw the naked people.
Yes, naked.
Old, large, naked men.
NOT what I wanted to see first thing in the morning before my presentation. Boy was that traumatizing.
Needless to say, I couldn't concentrate very much during my lecture.
Unfortunately I didn't start taking pictures until our very last day.. so these were a few that I was able to get.

Can't go to SF and not get Seafood at Fisherman's Wharf!!
My first macaroon!
Golden Gate Bridge
I've skipped so many days haha, I have no right to continue to be part of this challenge, but today I do have something to rant about.
SPAMMERS CAN YOU PLEASE STOP SPAMMING OUR FELLOW BLOGGERS' COMMENTS? Your comments don't make any sense, we don't like them, so please go away. I say this in the nicest and most respectful way possible. Thank you
San Francisco is one of our great cities - I'm glad you were able to play tourist while you were there! That anchor skirt is super cute, and would have been the perfect outfit for a visit to Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39.
ReplyDeleteOk Christy...1) You're making me hungry :P 2) Aren't macaroons AH-MAZING?! And 3) you're gonna have to do a post that shows the entire anchor dress...it looks TOO adorable!!!

How were the macarons? I can't have macarons since they are too sugary for my tastebuds. I might have to find a recipe to recreate them so that I can enjoy such delicious treats. I love San Francisco. If I could move to any city, it would definitely have to be San Fran. I absolutely love the jacket that you wore on your first photo and I totally agree - spammers are annoying. I can see why most bloggers put word verification up or just switch to Wordpress all together, haha.

Fisherman's wharf looks out of this world good! I miss good seafood here in London, do describe every mouthful for me??? Your first macaron, I hope it lived up to the hype for you?!? I have found it very much depends on the flavour... rose = so so, but salted caramel = hype worthy for sure!!!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love SF! I haven't been back for a while. Looks like you had a wonderful time. What do you think about macaroons? I tried it for the first time last year and my experience was just OK =) Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so beautiful! Makes me want to visit!

So glad you were able to go and the presentation went well! Conferences are wonderful like that! They're paid for and you get to see new places. I love your outfits! You really looked great! Your presentation sounds interesting actually---usually we think of ED as affecting only younger people (women). I like the print on your skirt in the first pic---where is it from?

Love your outfit! Looks like you had a lovely time at San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounds like you had a great time at SF except for the naked men.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to SF before but I saw my gal pal's photos and hear her stories and I would so love to visit there one day.
I know SF is really cool and fun. I visited there right before I moved back to NY from Seattle after living there for a decade.

Glad oyu got to get your two cents out, even if the crowd didn't seem too interested. That's such a good thing for your group to be doing. :D I'm sure that what you said may have touched someone though. :) Sometimes the people that your words actually reach won't let it show that it has touched them, you know?
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute dress you've got. The anchor print is so darling!
&& haha, I adored your comment!! Yeah, I should totally tell someone that I beat up a panther when I got lost in a jungle. Oh yeah, totally believable. ;)
